Why are we rebranding?
We launched in February 2016 with the explicit mission of helping companies grow through word-of-mouth. We strongly believed that genuine growth only happens when a company creates long-term relationships with its customers.
After 3 years in business, and many millions of relationships created, we wanted to reflect on why we exist, what we believe in and where we're headed.
The first obvious thing was that we had grown intolerant of "growth hacking" and everything it represents.
Growth hacking is the opposite of building genuine relationships; it is about "engineering" relationships, usually for short term gains.
To be extremely honest, we are also guilty of jumping on that wagon at the beginning of our journey, when we thought it could help us fulfil our mission.
But over and over again it has become clear how growth-hacking is the wrong way to grow any business. For "growth-hackers" the goal is to offset churn by amassing as many new customers as possible, instead of nurturing the relationship with each of them.
This "churn and burn" mindset might lead to faster short term growth, but it's a recipe for disaster in the long term.
Just to be clear: we are not against growth.
We are against a certain type of growth. Specifically, purposeless, short-term, unsustainable growth.
The new chapter of an old story
Referrals are the holy grail of any business.
Something magical happens when people refer your business to their friends via word-of-mouth.
We all know the numbers: referred customers are much more likely to buy (75% more in fact), they spend more and stay loyal for a longer time. But what it's less obvious is that without these people, your business will eventually die.
That's why we think these people are your heroes.
